Project Overview

As an HR Consultant, you have the opportunity to build a strong HR department for Komunidad, tailored to support the company’s growth and increasing number of employees, with a total of 34 full-time and project-based staff as of November 2023.

This effort is driven by the need to establish HR practices that align with the company’s vision and can adapt as the business expands. This process involves creating clear policies and guidelines to serve as the foundation for the organization’s practices and operational procedures, ensuring it’s all in sync with our growth plans.

Objectives

The purpose of the project is to put in place a proper structure for the following HR aspects:

  1. Recruitment (Talent Acquisition) and Retention: Our aim is to streamline and enhance our hiring and onboarding processes to provide a consistent experience for new employees. Concurrently, implementing a robust talent retention strategy will create a positive work environment, boost employee satisfaction, and secure the commitment of our valuable talent, ensuring their long-term retention, which is crucial for the growth and stability of our organization.

  1. Learning and Development (Training) and Appraisals (Performance Evaluation): Our goal is to build a comprehensive framework for Learning and Development, allocating resources for engaging employee activities. Additionally, implementing a fair performance evaluation method will not only benefit our employees but also drive the company’s growth by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and skill development.

  1. Compensation and Benefits (Timekeeping): We are focused on designing a structured salary framework for new hires, considering their expertise, skills, and knowledge. This will ensure fair and competitive compensation, attracting and retaining top talent vital for our company’s success.

  1. Labor and Employee Relations: Developing guidelines aligned with labor standards ensures fair treatment and legal compliance. Integrating initiatives supporting employee well-being within these guidelines is pivotal. It cultivates a positive workplace, enhances morale, and contributes to a healthier and more productive workforce, positively impacting our company’s success.

5. Others: HR Manual and Policies – standardized processes and best practices: Creating an HR manual with standardized processes is crucial for consistency and adherence to company policies. This streamlined approach ensures that everyone is on the same page, fostering efficiency, reducing errors, and promoting a cohesive work culture across the organization.

The overall output is the establishment of Komunidad’s HR manual and policy guidebook encompassing standardized processes and best practices across the following HR functions:

  1. Recruitment (Talent Acquisition) and Retention
  • Develop and implement a standardized SOP for the hiring and onboarding process of newly recruited employees to ensure efficient and consistent practices.
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive talent retention strategy aimed at fostering a positive work environment, enhancing employee satisfaction, and reducing turnover, ultimately ensuring the long-term commitment and retention of valuable talent within the organization.

  1. Learning and Development (Training) and Appraisals (Performance Evaluation)
  • Establish a comprehensive framework for Learning and Development, including a budget allocation for employee engagement activities beneficial for both employees and the company, specifying frequency and guidelines for training and seminar requests.
  • Identify and implement a performance evaluation method that serves the best interests of both employees and the company.

  1. Compensation and Benefits (Timekeeping)
  • Create a structured salary framework for newly hired employees based on their experience, skills, and knowledge, detailing components such as basic pay, de minimis, and allowances.

  1. Labor and Employee Relations
  • Develop and align guidelines with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Ministry of Manpower standards for leaves, sanctions, and dismissal procedures to ensure compliance and fair employee treatment.
  • Integrate initiatives that enable and support employee well-being, wellness, and resilience within these guidelines, fostering a supportive and healthy workplace culture.

  • Diverse HR Expertise: Experience in various HR functions such as recruitment, training, compensation, and policy development.

  • Customized Solutions: Ability to provide tailored services matching the specific needs and culture of Komunidad.

  • Legal Compliance Knowledge: Proficiency in labor laws, particularly Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Ministry of Manpower standards.

  • Track Record: Demonstrated success and positive client testimonials in implementing HR structures for businesses.

  • Resource Planning: Experience in budget allocation for employee engagement activities and resource management.

  • Policy Development Skills: Expertise in creating comprehensive HR manuals and policies for standardized processes.

Weeks 1-2: Foundation and SOP Development

Milestone 1: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Share best practices and case studies to develop streamlined SOP for hiring, onboarding, and retention processes, creating concise documentation and handbooks to ensure efficient and consistent practices.
Weeks 3-4: Learning & Development Framework and Performance Evaluation

Milestone 2: Learning & Development Framework and Performance Evaluation

  • Establish a focused Learning & Development framework, with guidelines for budget allocation and engagement activities. Simultaneously, design and implement a performance evaluation method aligned with company objectives.
Weeks 5-6: Compensation, Benefits, and Policy Alignment

Milestone 3: Compensation Structure and Policy Alignment

  • Recommend a structured salary framework for new hires based on skills and experience. Simultaneously, provide guidance in developing, aligning, and integrating HR policies to meet DOLE standards, ensuring compliance and fair treatment.
Weeks 7-8: Finalization and Integration
  • Review and finalize the HR Manual, incorporating standardized processes and best practices across all HR facets, ensuring uniformity and adherence to company policies. This stage focuses on integration, review, and potential refinements to align the HR structure with the company’s objectives.

This compressed schedule is ambitious, but it prioritizes each facet of HR within a short time frame, aiming for efficiency and effectiveness in achieving the outlined objectives within the 8-week engagement period. Adjustments and allocations of resources may be necessary to ensure the feasibility of this accelerated timeline.
