Komunidad partners with Oxford Center for Technology and Development to empower SMEs globally

Komunidad Global has signed a long-term partnership with UK-based Oxford Center for Technology and Development for climate projects that can empower Small and Medium Enterprises outside Asia.

Komunidad and OCTD—a research and consultancy company—formalized the partnership on June 27 with the official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. The collaboration covers different climate-related projects targeting SMEs in the UK and EU, in Turkey, and in six African countries, focusing on regenerative agriculture, biodiversity, and nature restoration.

The signing followed the discussions of the Komunidad team led by its Co-Founder and COO Allister Ayque, Head of ESG and Sustainability Jed Llanes, together with Marela Anne Codico and Head of Europe Operations Dafne Yeltekin; and OCTD Director Emre Eren Korkmaz on June 11 in London.

Komunidad has indeed found a perfect partner in OCTD as the latter has been focusing its research on addressing data scarcity and climate technology—areas that Komunidad has been championing in its work.

OCTD is a UK-based research and consultancy company focusing on climate tech startup benchmarking, impact measurement and data scarcity supported by Oxford University Innovation. Among its notable projects cover emerging markets, overcoming data scarcity, and related topics for Google, EBRD, Meta, Red Cross, IOM, World Food Programme, and many others. Their work expands to Kenya, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, Mongolia, and at the regional MENA and EU levels.

Like Komunidad, OCTD also believes that data is critical in addressing the pressing climate crisis, as this too can help measure impact and help companies understand the strategies and paths they need to pave to achieve net zero goals.

In turn, Komunidad also hopes to gain different insights and perspectives from OCTD from this collaboration to improve our approach on the challenges we face.

Expanding Globally

With this new partnership, Komunidad’s #EarlyWarningsforAll movement continues to gain ground. This time, beyond Asia.

“Our joint activities will support climate tech startups to measure their impact and climate resilience to implement sustainability and the #EarlyWarningsforAll movement on a global scale,” Ayque said.

He added: “We look forward to this collaboration.”
